Facets is a year-long, every-day art project. One piece a day, every day, for one year (or two, as the case may be).

It started in early 2013, deep in a rut of my own creation. I'd been overthinking my art and overworking it. The extra weeks were not exactly additive; I hated what I was making and I'm pretty sure everyone else did too. Freelance work slowed to a crawl.

So one morning in early February I made a simple geometric render and posted it. One piece, one day, just let it fly and hope for the best (like my jump shot). It felt so good, I did it again the next day. And the day after that. Momentum did what momentum does, and soon I committed to the year.

Having only a day gave me freedom I hadn't given myself in years. The expectations were lower, so the stakes were too, and I could fail with nothing on the line. I tried new directions, went down weird ass rabbitholes, explored new ideas for days on end. I came out on the other side with a new joy for creating art, and the geometric style that would define my work for the next ten years.

In 2022 the void called once more. Heedless of the perils that doubtlessly awaited I threw myself headfirst into another year, imaginatively titling the fledgling endeavour "Facets II".
